I don’t think there’s a baby on the planet who doesn’t find mama’s keys to be a delightful toy! And I don’t think there’s a mama who would deny that she has ever allowed her baby to play with her keys. I have done it, many times!! But I always cringed when watching Samuel gnaw on my keys. I couldn’t imagine it was good for him. But he is always so delighted with clanging them around, and I was always so relieved to be able to keep him busy in places like the grocery store….so I would hand them over once he spotted them and demanded them.
We tried the plastic key sets. I’m pretty sure we have at least four different sets floating around here somewhere. But they never kept Samuel’s interest. I guess they didn’t feel close enough to the “real” thing! Or maybe he just prefers chewing on metal! Either way, they didn’t work for us. And in the end, I’m rather glad. I mean, I don’t REALLY want him chewing on plastic from an unknown source.
Good news, mamas! Kleynimals are the “real” thing, and they are made just for your baby that is 6 months or older! Eli the Elephant, Gus the Giraffe, and Leo the Lion are non-toxic, stainless steel “keys” that will satisfy your little one’s desire to play with metal keys without the hazards of lead contamination, sharp edges, or the daily grime that covers your own set.
Kleynimals were created by a mom who was searching for a non-toxic alternative to her own keys for her son. Because most household and car keys contain dangerous amounts of lead, this mom was drawn to food grade stainless steel, which is safe for babies and mimics the look and feel of real keys. Unlike those plastic “keys” and your actual keys, Kleynimals do not contain lead, phthalates, BPA or cadmium. And because they are stainless steel (just like the utensils most of us eat off of), you can put them in the dishwasher! I love that!
However, what REALLY impresses me is the fact that Kleynimals are made exclusively in the USA utilizing two family-owned companies for the welding, polishing, assembly, and washing. Yes, they even wash them with eco-friendly soap before sending them to you!
When I gave Samuel his new set of Kleynimals, he took to them immediately. First, he gave them the shake test. And they passed with flying colors! These “keys” are loud, folks. And he was delighted! Then, of course, he chewed on them, and again, he was pleased. He also spent some time studying them, admiring the cute animals. And, being a baby, he threw them….. But he was happy to take them back when I picked them up and handed them to him.
I, too, am so pleased with this product! They are very well made, and since I know they are safe, I have no fears in allowing Sam to play with them. I also think Kleynimals would make an excellent baby shower gift! You can even have them engraved! And to top it off, they come in a cute little muslin bag that can be used for gift-giving and for keeping them clean when not in use.

What a great invention. My children loved playing with my keys and I always cringed when they put them in their mouths. Between the fear of the MANY germs that they were ingesting, the fear of them poking themselves in the eye, the fear of them scratching their face, or the fear of them losing them, I was always a nervous wreck while they played with them. Unfortunately, it was sometimes the ONLY thing that would pacify them. I love this item. Thank you for the review. I think I know what my baby shower gifts will be from now on.

This is so good to know about the hazard free keys. My sister’s son always wants to chew on her keys, and now I found an alternative to this. I am going to tell her about getting these for her son.
