I don’t know about you, but I’m always trying to keep my teeth white. I use whitening toothpaste, floss and mouthwash, but some days it seems that my smile could look a little bit brighter.
I have very sensitive teeth {as in, I need Novocaine just for cleanings} so I have never tried to have my teeth professionally whitened. Because my teeth are sensitive, I’ve never tried a tooth whitening system. I was intrigued to try some of the new whitening products from Rembrandt and Reach.
I was the sent the follow products to review:
*Rembrandt 2 Hour Deeply White Kit and Deeply White toothpaste.
* Rembrandt Intense Stain Whitening Strips and Intense toothpaste
* Reach Total Care Whitening Toothbrush and dental floss.
I wasn’t sure what to start with, so I read all the instructions and decided to start with the whitening strips. There are 56 strips included in the box, and each one can be used for either the top or bottom teeth, depending which way it is applied. The directions instructed to start with the lower teeth, and then apply to the upper teeth, being careful to avoid the gums. They should dissolve in 5-10 minutes. I had a little trouble getting the strips out of the package, but by carefully peeling them I was able to get it free. The strips are very sticky, but once on my teeth they didn’t move. The taste wasn’t bad – similar to a mouthwash. At first I was very distracted by the taste, however the strips did dissolve quickly and the after taste was pleasant. You can eat or drink as soon as the strips dissolve, which was great since they made me thirsty! The strips are made to be used twice a day.
I tried the Reach toothbrush next. It’s very comfortable and easy to hold. The handle was firm with a grip. The Dental Floss wasn’t my favorite. My teeth are close together, so I generally need to use a floss that is made for tight teeth. That said, while the floss didn’t glide easily, it didn’t break or catch, which was great!
The last thing I tried was the Whitening System. I left this for last as I was quite intimated by it. Since my teeth are so sensitive I wasn’t sure that I would be able to use the product, or that it might cause me some pain afterwards. After reading and re-reading the instructions I was ready to try it. This system is designed to be done over a 2 hour period, but I spread the applications out further, just to be sure that my teeth could handle it.
I was pleasantly surprised that my teeth are doing really well with these products! I can tell a difference in the mirror which is great – and my sensitive teeth had no reactions at all!
