The 2012 Hood New England Dairy Annual Cook-Off

I’ve got something really exciting to tell you about today. I’ve team up with Hood as a blogger advocate and I’ll be telling you all about the 2012 Hood New England Dairy Cook-Off! What’s that about? It’s an exciting cooking event that’s open to all New England home cooks.

The Cook-Off

This year will be the fourth annual Hood Cook-off and residents from the six New England states are invited to submit their favorite original recipes, containing at least one eligible Hood product. The Grand Prize? $10,000 cash! That’s pretty awesome, especially considering it’s free to enter. There’s five recipe categories and you can submit one recipe for each one if you want. This includes:

  • Breakfast/Brunch
  • Lunch/Dinner (Entree)
  • Appetizers/Side Dishes
  • Soups/Chowders
  • Dessert

Entries are accepted until Monday, September 10th, 2012. Then one cook from each of the six New England states for the five categories (a total of 30 recipes) will be announced on October 9th. They’ll compete in the semi-final event, which will take place in Providence, Rhode Island on October 21st, 2012. One winner from each of the five categories will then advance to the televised head-to-head Cook-off event later that same day for the $10,000 grand prize!

I’m Going!

I’ve been invited to the great Cook-Off event and am excited to be going as a blog representative. I’ll be bringing my camera and taking lots of pictures to share with you later. Wouldn’t it be incredible if you were there!? I would be so thrilled if one of my blog readers competed and even won! I know you all are a talented bunch!

The Recipes:

The previous competitions have resulted in some amazing recipes from very talented cooks. I think it’s really neat that they’re all from New England. It makes it closer to home and more personal, you know? The 30 winning recipes are printed in a Hood Cook-Off Cookbook and you can download the 2011 version for free here: Hood Cook-Off Cookbook

Visit the Hood Cook-off site for more details and competition rules.

Stay tuned – I’m trying out some of the winning recipes from 2011 and will be sharing them with you!

  Will you submit a recipe?
You could be the winner!
Don’t forget the deadline is September 10th!
