When our daughter was about 8 months old, we noticed that her eyes didn’t track well. In fact, she had trouble controlling her eyes to work together. At 13 months she was diagnosed with Congential Expropia, a condition that meant she had tunnel vision in both eyes. At 15 months she had double eye surgery {which was successful!} and we go every 4 months to the eye doctor to check her eyes.

The eye doctor stressed how important is would be to have her eyes covered whenever we went outside – which is all the time. It’s been tough to get her to voluntarily wear sunglasses- and there are times that she really doesn’t want to and it’s hard to make her. We go through 20 pairs of sunglasses a year. They break, the lenses pop out, the frames crack….it never ends.I was really excited to review a pair of glasses from funK Shades – and so was she! We were sent the pink glasses to review with 4 charms: a star, a flower, a ladybug and an owl. Oh….the cuteness!!

The glasses are lightweight with sturdy frames and the lenses do not pop out. The charms were very easy for my 4 year old to snap on and off. She loves changing them all around the lenses, and I like that she can do it herself. If you have young children who are putting things in their mouths, you’ll want to be careful and not leave them lying around, as the charms are small and could be easily swallowed.I love that a portion of funK shades proceeds will go to Surgical Eye Expeditions (www.seeintl.org), a leading nonprofit that restores sight and prevents blindness to disadvantaged individuals worldwide.
