Once the weather warms up we like to be outside as much as possible. With 2 girls that have seemingly boundless energy it’s wonderful to be outside, skipping, running and biking.
We were sent the Chalk Activity Kit to review from Chalk City – and it was a HUGE hit with both my girls! They could barely wait until I got everything out of the box – and once everything was opened it was a free for all! We were sent 1 RoadMaker, 3 Road Sign Stencils, 3 Obstacle Course Stencils, 20 pieces of chalk and an activity booklet. I love that each set of stencils and the RoadMaker comes in it’s own reusable mesh bag – perfect for on-the-go fun!
We had to make the road first, so we snapped the chalk into place on the RoadMaker and Sophie started drawing. She is 4, and had no trouble drawing curves and straight lines. The RoadMaker is light and very user friendly!
Next we had to add some road signs so that we knew which way to travel on the path. I like that the stencils are very sturdy and easy for the kids to grip while they trace. Perfect for the child who wants to do everything by themselves. *ahem*
It was time to test out the road! Sophie grabbed her bike and away she went! She had a blast navigating the turns in the road and making sure to stop at each STOP sign.
Bella was having just as much fun on her tricycle, although she was more interested in collecting the chalk and stencil pieces as she went through.
For a new biker – this is a perfect set! By the end of the night Sophie had already learned to anticipate corners and steer around them without falling over. She was also able to stay inside the road lines, which is a pretty important skill.
Bella had a lot of fun drawing rainbows with the chalk, although she was quite happy to *help* Daddy trace some stop signs! I was really impressed with the chalk – it was dropped into the bike bucket, onto the pavement and used over and over for tracing and the pieces never broke!
The enclosed activity booklet is packed full of ideas for fun with chalk – everything from how to draw a map of Washington DC to a fun obstacle course with different activities. This set is endless fun for all ages! Next up on our list is making a fun hop-scotch board and an obstacle course – we can’t wait! I love that they can make their own bike trail to follow with turning arrows and stop signs. This would be perfect for my niece who lives in a neighborhood that with a street near here home that is almost completely vacant of houses and cars.
