St Patty’s Frosted Butter Cookies Recipe

This is the same recipe I used for my Frosted Valentine Butter Cookies. The recipe is so good that I knew I had to remake them for St Patrick’s Day.

The light cookie complements the buttercream frosting perfectly. The only downside to these cookies? They don’t last long because everyone snaps them up so quickly!

Frosted St Patty's Day Butter Cookies

For the decoration, tint half of the frosting with green. If you’re not inclined toward decorating, just frost half the cookies with green and the other half with white. Sprinkle with green sprinkles or green sugar crystals.

  6. 1 tsp baking powder

  3. For frosting, cream butter. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; it will be very stiff. Add 3-4 tablespoons of milk, 1 tablespoon at a time until spreading consistency is reached. Add food coloring to a portion or all of frosting if desired. Frost cookies.

  1. look soo good, i have been a little slack this st patrick’s day, maybe I will make these this weekend. do you think they will freeze well until next weekend?

    • I haven’t tried freezing, but I think you could freeze the dough with no problem. I’m not sure about the cookies themselves and I would not freeze them after you frost them.
Good luck! If you do freeze them, let me know how they work!

  2. They look delicious. I have never been good at sugar cookies but may give these a try as they sound much easier than other recipes I’ve tried.

    • They are really easy, much easier than regular sugar cookies. Rolling them into balls and then flattening them is the trick; much easier than the whole rolling pin and cutting them out!
