Halloween Ghost Cookies

Are you looking for a simple Halloween recipe to make a fun treat for your kids? Look no further – these ghost cookies only require 4 ingredients and the results are sure to please any crowd.

What you’ll need:

1 pkg of Nutter Butter cookies
1.5-2 pkg of white chocolate chips
1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips
waxed paper on a cookie sheet

Sorry it’s not a better picture – I had little “helpers” and with 3 of them crowding around…I’ll just say I only have 2 hands!

First you’ll need to melt the white chocolate chips –  you can melt them with a double boiler or in the microwave. I opted for the microwave. Make sure you stir them frequently – every 20 seconds is a good rule of thumb.

You’ll want the consistency to be slightly runny. If it’s too thick, your ghosts will look lumpy and you’ll use too much chocolate on each cookie. If you need to thin the chocolate (I did), you can melt in some shortening. I added approximately 1/2-3/4 cup.

Once the chocolate is ready, dip your Nutter Butter cookies into it. I used a fork.

You can use your fingers if you want and “paint” chocolate over the spot where you fingers were with a pastry brush. However I found it easier & less messy with a fork.

Once your nutter butter is dipped, lay it on the waxed paper lined cookie sheet.

While the chocolate is still wet, put 2 mini chocolate chips on for the ghost’s eyes. You don’t have to do this immediately after dipping the cookie; I stopped after every 1/2 dozen cookies or so and added the chocolate eyes. Just don’t wait too long or the “eyes” won’t stick.

Wait an hour or two to let them set and you’re good to go with your Ghost cookies!

It took me about an hour to make these cookies. I was interrupted a lot with my “helpers” so if you are doing it by yourself you can probably whip them out quicker. But for me, half the fun is doing this with the kids!

These fun treats are perfect for Halloween parties, bake sales, or just for making a special occasion treat with your children. They are yummy so beware: they may not stick around for long!

  1. I thought those were Nutter Butters when I saw the picture! That’s a seriously cute idea. Plus, I just don’t think you can go wrong with Nutter Butters dipped in chocolate :)

  2. Oooh! I’m doing this! Thanks for the great idea!

  3. Very cute! And easy enough that I could even make them! 😉

  4. Halloween may be over this year, but I’ll still try this recipe this coming weekend for my children. I think I’ll let them decorate the cookies more so that they’ll have fun while helping me bake them. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
